About Us

Krishna and Santhy moved from Malaysia to New Zealand in 2003 with their two young sons. They bought an established dental practice in Matamata in 2004 and settled quickly into the relaxed but vibrant rural lifestyle the small town offered. Matamata has been home since then and  their growth is a reflection of the trust their patients place in them.

Krishna

I bring over 27 years of private dental practice experience to the communities in and around Matamata. I’d like to believe I have a relaxed chairside manner and can quickly put patients at ease. I like getting to know my patients and thier experiences. Tailoring solutions to suit their needs and budgets is a challenge I enjoy. We try and create a relaxed atmosphere and allow patients to ask questions and make informed decisions about their dental health.
I am particularly proud to have brought Cerec dentistry to Matamata. It has proven to be an invaluable tool for rebuilding large failing restorations in house without the need for cumbersome impressions and temporary crowns. My patients enjoy watching me create these out of our milling machine right before their eyes.
Santhy and I dedicate time each year to travel to a range of international and local conferences to attend courses to ensure the services provided at Matamata Dental Centre are at the forefront of dental care in New Zealand. We try hard to offer the best possible general dental care to our community without the need to travel out of town. However, we have developed excellent working relationships with specialists in cities nearby to handle situations beyond our scope of practice.

Santhy

I have over 25 years of dental experience, much of it in community dental care. My years of serving as a dental officer with the Malaysian Government Dental Services have served me well in rural New Zealand. I believe in patient centred healthcare and it is vitally important to me to make dental care more accessible to all people. My main focus is on promoting dental health in and around Matamata. I frequently organise and run free dental initiatives to provide essential dental care to under served communities. I enjoy talking ‘teeth’ to local groups and am passionate about engaging people in dialogues about how we can all contribute towards better oral health in rural towns. I take time to engage with my patients, address their fears and educate them about preventing dental problems.
